About Me
Hi, I’m Carrie.
I’m a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington. I have experience working with a diverse client population with a wide range of presenting issues in both community mental health and private practice settings. In particular I have worked with many clients struggling with questions of identity & experiences of feeling like the “outsider”, clients experiencing chronic illness & pain, and clients who are autistic and have ADHD.
I began my career path working in a variety of “helper” roles, including human resources, government, and non profit settings. However, something was lacking - a lingering question of how to better help others to find fulfillment and meaning in a world with so many socially constructed systems to navigate - so many expectations of who we should be and what we should do. I am firmly committed to a social justice and anti-oppression approach.
I have a deep love of learning - from the grand scale of astronomy to the smallest intricacies of how the human mind works. I experience something therapeutic in better understanding the inter-connectedness of society, culture, personal experience, and the natural world around us. I strive to bring that curiosity, passion, and lifelong learning into my work with others, to help clients find and explore their own path - one that feels authentic and meaningful for them.
I obtained my Master’s degree in mental health counseling from Antioch University in Seattle. Prior to my Master’s studies, I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies from the University of Washington, where I focused on gender and sexuality in East Asian cultures. I love to write, travel, and immerse myself in the worlds of story - be it through video games, fantasy novels, music or television series. I have a strong nerdy & quirky streak, and relate well with others whose interests and hobbies fall outside of the “norm”. My interests are not just hobbies, but the drivers of motivation & self-discovery in my life. If you resonate with this as well, we may be a good therapeutic fit!
